Linux file systems operate from a single, unified namespace. Remember, everything is a file, and all files exist under the root directory, File systems on different local disks, removable media, and even remote servers will all appear underneath a single directory, beginning from the root file system or filesystem (fs) controls how data is stored and retrieved. the data is easily isolated and identified. There are many different kinds of file systems. Each one has different structure and logic, properties of speed, flexibility, security, size and more. Some file systems have been designed to be used for specific applications. For example, the ISO file system is designed specifically for optical discs. we can insert command: file + filename. We will see what the file extension is, and other details which is same with the details showing in the file properties by using the command file followed by the file name.
